Head Coach

swimteam@limaymca.net

Kody Graham is entering his third year as the Barracuda Head Coach. Kody was previously the assistant swim coach at Bowling Green State University for the 2023-24 swim season. He has been the head coach at Lima Senior High School and has coach the Westside Wave, a summer swim team, since 2022.

The Barracudas completed another successful campaign during the 2025-26 swim season as they achieved their fourth consecutive championship in the NWOYSL and finished 3rd at the 2026 Great Lakes Zones Championship meet in Canton, Ohio, their highest finish as a team at this meet ever. The Barracudas had multiple event wins at the Ohio Swimming Junior State Short-Course Championship in March and achieved a handful more during the summer Long-Course Championship meet.

The Barracudas had a very successful campaign during the 2024-25 winter season. They won 47 events and broke 4 championship meet records on their way to their 3rd consecutive NWOYSL Title. The team then won 13 events at the Great Lakes YMCA Zone Championship and finished 6th overall, their highest finish in the history of the Great Lakes Zone Meet. To close out the winter season, the Barracudas attended the 2025 Short-Course YMCA National Championship with the most individual qualifiers in the programs history. Lily Baumgartner scored the first points for the girls' team in the history of the YMCA National Meet with a 9th place finish in the 200 Back and an 8th place finish in the 100 back. At the conclusion of the winter season, 39 team records had been broken.

Kody began swimming in 1990 with the Lima Family YMCA and he competed through high school at Lima Senior. After high school, Kody completed his undergraduate degree at BGSU, studying Exercise Science. Before returning to the swimming world, he worked for the YMCA as a Health and Wellness Director and advanced to the position of District Executive Director for the YMCA of Central Ohio after a stop in Lock Haven, Pennsylvania as their Executive Director. The Lock Haven Loggerheads re-ignited Kody's passion for the sport.

Kody resides in Lima with his wife, Heather, and their four children, Charlie, Henry, Harrison, and Murphy.

luke.kleman@icloud.com

Luke swam collegiately at the University of Findlay, where he swam primarily mid-distance freestyle events. Luke served four years as the head swim coach at Bluffton University. As a Doctor of Physical Therapy, he bring a unique perspective to coaching with his knowledge of how the human body moves, how to build muscle memory, and how to use sports psychology to perform at their best.

Luke's coaching philosophy is simple: building good habits, training mental skills, preventing injuries, and maintaining a genuine passion for the sport. He believes swimming is a sport you can continue to challenge yourself in at any age, and he loves helping swimmers pursue their goals, whether that’s preparing for a championship meet, improving a single stroke, or simply becoming a more confident swimmer.
